The project was developed as a joint venture between Cubix and a group of independent self storage investors.  While a fairly simple 1 story project, the development presented numerous hurdles to get to the finished product.  These included a wetlands mitigation, easement relocations, bay mud soils, a highly involved City Design Review Board insisting on pre approval by adjacent neighborhoods, and some opposition at the public hearing leading to delays such that the land had to be closed on prior to obtaining all the entitlements.
The facility benefits from a solar array taking care of all the power needs.  Also the design is such that one of the single story buildings is prepped to take a second floor addition without the evacuation of the existing tenants.
In spite of a competitive market with some of the other facilities having more prominent locations, and opening the project at the height of the national economic downturn, the property filled up ahead of projections.
